![]() In addition to the many ground displays this thrilling three day AirShow will feature parachute jumps, simulated dog fights and over 40 aircraft from WW I, WW II, Korea and Vietnam flying in formations and demonstrations. Jammed packed with ground displays and aerial performances the TICO WARBIRD AIRSHOW 2014 will make a special tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and the missions they flew in their Red Tail P-51 Mustangs to protect our bombers in the European Theater during WW II. Gates open to the public at 8:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Ground events include car displays, a kid's carnival, gift shop and autograph tent, multiple food and souvenir venders, and pyrotechnics. In addition to the daily three hour aerial performance this family entertainment encompasses military and civilian aircraft static displays, military re-enactors and firepower demonstrations, flight simulators, airplane and helicopter rides. The AirShow this coming 14-16 March 2014 will be our 37th consecutive event. This event has grown from a small number of member pilots to over 40 aircraft participating each year. Their first air show was primarily flown by combat veterans in their member owned surplus military aircraft. The Valiant Air Command was started by a group of twelve individuals in 1977. This annual three day event highlights military aviation and features some of the most famous trainer, transport, fighter and bomber aircraft that flew in combat around the world. Its postwar replacement, the Douglas AD Skyraider, earned an unsurpassed reputation for toughness and effectiveness, from its pilots, the ground units it supported in Korea and Vietnam, and from the dozens of downed pilots who owe their freedom to its brawn and presence as a rescue escort.Our C-47 Skytrain Tico Belle doing her thing at the 2014 AirShow. The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver, last dive bomber to serve in the fleet, brought destruction to Japanese shipping and shore installations. We also welcome two legendary Navy attack aircraft. The show concludes with Jerry McCart's Wicked Willy Jet car, in a race against a flying jet aircraft.We salute the aircraft of the Korean War with a formation fly-by.Matt Younkin flies his 70 year old Beech 18 twin engine transport in an amazing display of aerobatic skill.Our members demonstrate mass formation techniques as they fly two generations of military aircraft for your entertainment.Dale Dollarhide flies the Douglas A4C, demonstrating the exceptional performance and maneuverability of the long serving Navy attack stalwart.Doug Matthews' P-51 The Rebel returns for a solo routine, and treats us to the magnificent sound of its Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 inline engine.Greg Connell amazes us with the phenomenal maneuverability of his Pitts Special biplane, and the sound of its unique and powerful radial piston engine.Our own C-47 Tico Belle demonstrates combat parachute operations, using WWII type procedures and equipment, in commemoration of the massive airdrops of D-Day at Normandy, Operation Market Garden and Operation Varsity, the crossing of the Rhine River.We salute the Tuskegee Airmen and their exceptional accomplishments in war and in changing our society, as Doug Matthews' P-51 Mustang demonstrates fighter escort techniques with B-25 Mitchell medium bombers. ![]() Mach II in 1954! Tim Plunkett will present "the Red Baron vs.The Geico Skytipers will fly their six ship formation of WWII era North American T-6/SNJ "Texan" trainers in an amazing display of precision performance.Paul Schulten wil fly his custom built Christen Eagle biplane in a spectacular acrobatic routine.Mark Sorenson's Twin Tiger Airshow will feature two Yak 55M trainers.Navy veteran Doug Matthews will fly a demonstration routine in his Korean-war vintage Lockheed T-33 trainer. ![]() John Black and his Super Decathlon aerobatic airplane will circle the jumpers.
